Challenge

A large lasagna manufacturer needed every tray on the line aligned precisely as it entered the oven and again as it returned to the lid applicator.

Misaligned trays meant cooked product hitting the side of the oven channel and lids landing crooked at the applicator — both bad outcomes on a high-volume line.

Solution

SEW MOVIDRIVE servo drives tuned and orchestrated by an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLC to align trays in synchronisation with the conveyor.

  • SEW MOVIDRIVE servo drives across the alignment axes
  • Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLC coordinating motion
  • Drive tuning for repeatable, gentle tray positioning
  • Aligned infeed to the oven
  • Synchronised handover to the lid applicator downstream
Trays running through the alignment station — oven side.

Outcome

Trays now run consistently through the alignment station — into the oven cleanly and out to the lid applicator with the orientation the downstream equipment expects.
